Just saw the new UNIVERSAL SOLIDER. It's incredibly GRIM and straight faced. Dolph Lundgren is in it for ten minute tops and Van Damme dosen't actually start kicking ass until an hour and ten minute into it (But when he does he kills a COMMANDO number of people) . The first hour deals mostly with the new bad guy (Some ...UFC fighter) and the commando unit trying to take him down. It's not boring, but goddamit it, I wanted a real UNIVERSAL SOLDIER film.
Weirdly, the tone helps film (Damme is a better actor when he's silent and beat up) and the action is brutally violent. Think THE TOURNAMENT style violence.
Sadly, I'll have to keep wishing for my cheesy Damme and Lundgren team up film. It should be called DOUBLE SHOCK. Both of them will have twins!
